Cheeseburger

  • 180g96% extra-lean ground beef
  • 1Light whole-wheat sandwich thin
  • 40g (2 slices)Low-fat Edam or light Mozzarella cheese
  • 3-4 slicesDill pickles
  • 1 tbspSugar-free ketchup
  • 1 tspYellow mustard
  • as neededZero-calorie cooking spray
  • to tasteSalt, black pepper, and garlic powder

Potato Wedges & Dip

  • 150gRaw yellow or russet potato, cut into thick wedges
  • 2 tbspSugar-free ketchup (for dipping)
  • to tasteSmoked paprika, sea salt, and black pepper

👨‍🍳Method

1

Bake the Wedges

20-25 min

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) or your air fryer to 195°C (385°F). Toss the potato wedges in a bowl with a generous spray of zero-calorie cooking spray, sea salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Arrange them in a single layer and bake for 20-25 minutes (or air fry for 12-15 minutes), flipping halfway, until they are golden and crispy.

2

Form the Patty

2 min

Take the extra-lean ground beef and gently form it into a wide, flat patty. Season both sides generously with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

3

Cook the Burger

4 min

Heat a non-stick skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Coat lightly with zero-calorie cooking spray. Place the patty in the hot pan and cook for about 4 minutes on the first side.

4

The "Ooze" Method

3-4 min

Flip the burger. Immediately place your 2 slices of low-fat Edam cheese on top of the hot patty. Add a tiny splash of water (just a teaspoon) to the very edge of the hot pan and quickly cover the pan with a lid. The steam will perfectly melt the low-fat cheese so it drapes completely over the edges. Cook for 3-4 more minutes until the beef is cooked to your liking, then remove from the heat.

💡This steam-melt trick is the secret to making low-fat cheese behave like full-fat. Without it, low-fat cheese stays rubbery.
5

Toast the Bun

30 sec

Briefly toast the insides of your whole-wheat sandwich thin in the residual heat of the pan.

6

Assemble and Serve

1 min

Spread the sugar-free ketchup and mustard on the bottom bun. Layer your pickle slices, then carefully place the heavily cheesed beef patty on top. Close the burger. Serve immediately with your hot potato wedges and extra sugar-free ketchup on the side.
